TENTH TASK: "intercultural communication"

After having done the group discussions about "intercultural communication", I could notice that Colombia culture is totally different from the American one. As it is known, some Americans want to look for freedom when they are adults. An example of this situation is when a teenager is almost turning eighteen, they start to look for a job in order to buy or rent an apartment just to feel free without any obligations at their parents’ home. There is where our culture differ from them due to the fact that Colombia people are closer to their family, they try to be as much as they can in their parents’ life in order to help them in any situation and not let them be by their own. Colombian teenagers usually live with their mom and dad until they finish their degree at university.

On the other side of the planet, Chinese culture have a more quite behavior. They do not get along with outgoing or cheerful people. We need to take into account that there are differents types of cultures around the world and you need to look for information about the country in which you are.

Based on one of the episodes of the daily show of Tal Cual, a television animated cartoon sponsored by the Colombian Consumer’s Association, I could take into account what can I do when it refers looking for a job.

This episode talked about what people shoud do if they want to get a job. As it is known, there are some places in which you can fin some help in order to make the right choice of what you want to do. On the other hand, this episode also showed what people must not do and it is having a conversation with strangers on the street. Most of the cases, this situation ends in the worst day of your life because they may ask you for money just to make you think that you might have a possibility of getting a job as soon as possible but this, never happen and this people steal your money.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a job, you should go to places in which they offer you some help in this process and not let others on the street or wherever you are help you.

Has bullying affected the way students learn a second language?

Nowadays, students are noticing that learning another language is beyond important due to the fact that people need it if they want to communicate with others when they travel abroad. That is the reason why young generations are getting interested on it and some of them, are looking for institutes that are in charge of teaching any language they want. However, there are few older students that are not the best influence to the youngest one and, in some cases, they prefer spending time on making jokes to the ones that are really focus on their task and this is called bullying.

First, some kids are really shy when it comes participating in class when the teacher asked to do it. Furthermore, these children may take the courage to do it but when they are going to perform, others students start to laugh and tell rude words in order to make this kid embarrassed. As a consequence of this act, some students prefer not to pay attention to the topics and then, they will not continue with the process of learning a second language.

Second, there is a big issue in terms of older students bothering the new ones. As a consequence of this act, kids prefer taking classes at home or just not going to a building in which people could irritate them. Some students come up with great ideas like telling their principal’s what is going on with their situation and they are expected to change them to another institution. I know someone that was getting bullied by a friend in the social networks. This person talked to his parents and then, they went to his bullies’ parents and finally, everything was successful due to they managed the situation.

On the other hand, I believe that bullying could something acceptable because it may be useful to make kids stronger than ever. As it is known,  when people  are being challenge by a demanding situation, they start thinking in new ways of getting out of it and then, they learn how to face those types of circumstances. That is the reason why children could go through bullying and acquire abilities to defend themselves against some people that can hurt them.

In conclusion, bullying is a controversial situation in which some students can be affected and may get worst results because one person cannot handle with circumstances as others do. But, there are few cases where kids might learn how to be stronger than ever with facing people that only want to hurt the ones that are weak.

I believe that I have to put into practice my critical thinking in order to acquire new abilities and learn how to be a cautious person. I consider myself as a candid person because I do not pay attention to my feelings at the moment to critize others opinion. However, I have to knuckle down my weakness at the moment to have a serious conversation which is creating a strongest argument due to I overthink my ideas and I do not choose anyone quickly. That is why I should improve that weakness.

                                       Critical and creative thinking.

Critical thinking: I believe that being critical is to judge almost every single thing that can be controversial for us. Although, you can use certain techniques and your background knowledge to respond others ideas or opinions.

Creative thinking: I think that when somebody is a creative thinker is when that person is able to create new ways of solutions of a problem. Also, it is when you habe the ability to come up with new ideas or opinions.



How you think critical thinking and creative thinking complement each other?

In both cases, our memory is being implemented due to the fact that we force our mind to think beyond that we are used to.  Being critical and creative is to look for new ways of solutions of a problem without taking the easiest way
